Yay! My mp3 player is working again. :) Actually I think I am more of a radio person. But these days the radio shows are not very 'interesting', some are to the point of irritating that you'd wish the djs would shut up and let the songs play. I shall not name which ones I'm referring to. I missed Morning Madness with Daniel Ong and Grace Chua. Those two were good together.
Oh shit, my mp3 player's not working again. Argh!!!

Wednesday, June 21, 2006My third wisdom tooth is growing. Hmm, I hope I am wiser :D
May the immortals in heaven bless women who're in menstrual pain. After all, we didn't ask for it to be that way. Okay, I am sorry I sound ungrateful. May all the pain go away then. Thank you.

Friday, June 09, 2006I miss my JC life. It was the best school years in my life. A really short two years. I really wonder how I managed all those activities, while still not missing out on having friends and enjoying everything else that a normal student will experience. Well, I guess it was possible because I was not some Exco member who has to do many other things. And I thank God for that.
My JC life. So contrasting compared to my Uni one. Now I'm just going school and coming home, period. I even skipped so many lectures and tutorials. No CCA, no other activities. Not even shopping after school. I wish I have just half of the energy I had in JC. And the enthusiasm.
In first year, I remember my first dance performance in April, the "Dance Night"; actually the very first stage performance I did was within the first week of orientation, then followed by the short skit I appeared in for International Friendship Day; then there was the Germany project with Yoong tian that took place from May to July (I haven't shown the final video to anyone yet); the performance for "Stone can rock" at the later half of the year, the Jazz performance at Jubilee Hall as guest performance for Michael Tay's dance company; the same Jazz dance for Teacher's day; the Crystal making competition with Ilda; the Sigma lab opening by the Minister of Education which was broadcasted in all the news the same night (yes, I was on TV, and I was in white lab coat, hah!); the Entrepreneur workshop at AJC, also on the news; another dance for National Day celebration; 3 more dance performances on Open day; and somehow I found the courage to try Long Jump during Inter-house games and managed a 3.5 m; then the dance which all 4 bims did for Deepavali representating Solaris (that was a fond memory). Not forgetting the 2-week attachment at SGH during the December holiday, followed by Malay dance practices to prepare for SYF the next year.
Second year was just as hectic, with the S paper classes to attend, and Malay dance practices 3 times a week. The performance for Malay cultural day, then the College day, and then the SYF itself. After which I switched back to Western dance; another performance for NDC, and the talent competition for the Asean scholars; somehow brave enough again to participate in 3-on-3 basket ball representing Solaris. Man I could hardly dribble the ball, and I still can't. All those things, so I was in school on almost every Saturday. And I usually did my homework for a whole week on the weekend before that. Cause I'm too beaten to do work after I got home from school.
No wonder I got gold for Nafta both years. I mean, before that I just barely made it to Bronze, and even before that I got nothing. All the early morning run to beat the morning assembly bell had been worth it. Oh, I miss the senior who ran with me when I was in first year. I think her name was Winnie. We would decide whether to get off on the bus stop before and run all the way to the main gate through RGPS, or to get off at NJ bus stop and run from there. The time needed was 5 minutes. Yes, you must be at the bus stop at least 5 mins before the bell. Else you'll definitely be late. In J2 I have nobody to run with, so I was late often. But I was caught only once, and I was caught with everybody else. I was lucky not to get caught alone. There was one time when I walked by the side of the hall and the moment I turned I saw Sharon Phua, and she just caught somebody in front of the hall. She didn't see me. And I quickly ran back towards the canteen and hide in the toilet. That was quite scary. Oh, somehow I never got caught for wearing coloured ankle socks either, and for not tucking in my shirt. Haha. Those days. Remembering them all make me miss JC life all the more now.

Tuesday, June 06, 2006Ah, what a dance. Well-toned female bodies, slim and yet strong. Full of energy throughtout the seventy minutes of the performance. I'm skipping the male part on purpose, yes. Somehow the female dancers attracted me more. Oh, but there was one male solo part with the man in his underwear only. Not bad. You don't see a mucsled body moves so easily and effortlessly often. One of the best dances I have seen. And definitely one of the best seats I have had in a concert hall/theatre.
I'm talking about dance "Shanghai Beauty" by Jin Xing Dance Theatre that is playing today and tomorrow at 8pm. Thanks to Amanda (read: A-man-duh!), who gets a pair of the tickets from his cousin sister - the term he insists is used in Asia to refer to your female cousin, and his kind invitation for me to join him. We thought we would probably be seatings at one of the back rows on the upper level (otherwise known as circle seats) which we really don't mind as the tickets are free anyway, but it turned out to be the stall seats and about less than 10 rows from the most front too. Wonderful.
More about the dancers. It's funny how sometimes the dancers are given no credits at all, no mention whatsoever on the program booklet, no pictures even, when it is so clear that there will be no dance without the dancers. Well I guess there is no dance without the choreographer either. No wonder dancer is not a really well-respected profession. That aside, I seriously believe that all the dancers in the performance just now has master the technique of turning without getting a headache.
By the way, have you heard the song for the Fifa World Cup this year? It's sung by Shakira. It certainly make you move along yes.
