I'm back. And I'm alive and kicking!! Except for the occasional nose block and cough, oh well.. I've survived, and I'll survive, Huahaha.. The June holiday is over. I won't have to see my cousin sitting in front of the computer almost everytime I walk past it anymore. Hoho. And my tutees are getting lazier. Hope getting back to school will get them back into their normal working mode, not that it's any good, but at least it's better. Sigh. How I wish I can get a student like myself, in the hardworking department that is. I know my punctuality needs a lot of improvement. My tutees don't seem to realise that they're paying for my presence. 6 Maths paper 1 questions in 2 hour. And most of the times I have to explain three times to three different girls. Sometimes more. I've been very patient.

Thursday, June 24, 2004You are Form 0, Phoenix: The Eternal.
"And The Phoenix's cycle had reached zenith, so he consumed himself in fire. He emerged from his own ashes, to be forever immortal."
Some examples of the Phoenix Form are Quetzalcoatl (Aztec), Shiva (Indian), and Ra-Atum (Egyptian). The Phoenix is associated with the concept of life, the number 0, and the element of fire. His sign is the eclipsed sun.
As a member of Form 0, you are a determined individual. You tend to keep your sense of optimism, even through tough times and have a positive outlook on most situations. You havea way of looking at going through life as a journey that you can constantly learn from. Phoenixes are the best friends to have because
they cheer people up easily.

Today I went for the class's unemployed girls' outing despite being sick and having no voice. Hmmm.. it was hard not to talk. Haha.. So I kept on talking in my raspy-sexy-super soft voice. And in the six hours that I was out, I sucked on 4 strepsils. Not good. But at least I follow the instuction : "suck every 2-3 hours". And my sore throat came back after that. Good news though, fever's gone.

Wanna eat ice-cream?
Ice cream waffle, now only $3.50 (U.P $7.00). Free coffee/tea if dine between 3-6 pm. Er, it's at some Jap restaurant at Far East Level One. I didn't take note of the name. Ops. By the way, price excludes 10% service and 5% GST. And there's only chocolate flavour for the ice-cream. But it was not bad.

This is bad (whispering). Very bad (whisper all the way). I lost my voice. My sore throat's getting more painful. I'm down with cold. And I have a bit of cough. I haven't checked my temperature yet though. When I speak there's buzzing sound in my ears. It's Saturday. I'm going to cancel my tuition tomorrow. And it's father's day tomorrow.

Tuesday, June 15, 2004Argh.. I'm having a sore throat. I don't know what caused it. I know I have spicy food for lunch, dinner and supper yesterday, but I drank lots of water, and nothing happened after that. I didn't eat a lot of heaty food today. Went to Shu's house so I ordered roasted pig rice for takeaway. And I drank a lot a lot a lot of water. Thanks to Shu who kept offering :) Well, I had some chocolate, and some Ruffles cheese, but that's all. Not much, really. Sigh, it's so painful. It's ok when I talk, but it hurt when I swallow. I'll rather it hurt when I talk so at least I can keep quiet. But how not to swallow? Sobs.. poor me..

Tuesday, June 08, 2004Went for a free makeover today. I gotta admit I really sucks at make-ups. The girl (who do my makeover) makes it look so simple. Putting this and that and ta-da.., done. The good thing about being a girl is that there is make-ups. So the ordinary-looking girl can look pretty or at least prettier/less ordinary.
Then I went to collect the prizes I've won from Power 98 : Prince and Aerosmith's CDs. The girl at the counter made a mistake and gave me an additonal Prince CD. Well, the two CDs - Aerosmith and Prince - are actually taped together with Aerosmith on top. But she thought that was only one CD so she gave me another Prince CD. And being the person that I am, I did not return it. I mean, nobody knows the girl has made a mistake (other than me). And what's one CD to a radio station? So you can say there's no harm done.
It's not that I don't have integrity. I simply reserve it for the moments that really require it. Say for example : I bought newspaper from a small stall at bus stop or bus interchange and the shopowner gave me extra change. I WILL return it. :)

Monday, June 07, 2004Holidays are not always good for everyone. Just look at my cousin. He has been playing computer games for the whole day these past few days. Sitting in front of the computer with his face barely 20 cm away from the screen, playing till he loses his mind and can't even remember simple thing like whether he has eaten or not. Never once did I see him do his schoolwork. And I'm sure he has homework for this holiday. I don't mean he cannot play. He can always do his work first then play or play in between doing work. It's not as if he tops his school or has very wonderful grades already. Even if he does he still have to do his work right.
I don't know.. I just find this downright annoying. He never does any house chores at home, not even wash his own cup. He would drink sweet stuff then leave his cup (on the tray where we all put our cups so we can use them again rather than wash and then use new ones) for ants to come crawling. If he does wash his cup after I told him to it would be just running water into the cup, pouring it away and that's it, bringing a new meaning altogether to the word "wash". How gross is that.
Anyway, I am finally granted a PR. I'm not too sure what benefits it can bring me other than saving my Dad a few hundred bucks off University tuition fee every year. The PR comes too late for scholarship application (not that I will definitely get one with a PR but it will widen my options at least and increase my chance). And it's too late to find a daily job now with University semester starting in less than 2-month-time. When I'm in U later I can work even with my foreigner's status.
Nevertheless, I'm going to take up the offer. And it's not just like that. I'll have to go for medical check-up among other things. Then I'll have to pay for a few things. Although it's true that I don't have to do NS. Boy, am I glad my wish to be born a boy when I was young did not come true.

Sunday, June 06, 2004Human beings are never satisfied. No matter what and how much they already have, they will still want more. Even if they don't need it, they just want it. There is no end.
Maybe not all human beings are like that. Maybe there are those who know how to count their blessings. Maybe there are those who are contented with their lives and desire nothing else. But how many of them really exist? One in a thousand?
I know I'm not one of those people. I am grateful for what I have now. But I wish I have things that I don't. I wish I have the means to go to UK to study. I wish I can travel around the world. I wish I have what it needs to do what I like. I wish there aren't so many things to worry about. I wish the world is not so terrifying to live in. And I wish for many more.

Tuesday, June 01, 2004Wah, it's the month of June already. Time flies when you're having fun (or not, depends on whether you think slacking at home is fun) :)
I've become more appreciative about the fact that I get into NUS. I know NUS is one of the leading U in Asia, but somehow I used to think that getting into NUS is nothing to be proud of, it's like a sure thing, no big deal. Especially if you compare it with Cambridge, Harvard and the likes.
Perhaps it's the media going ga-ga over Cambridge graduates. Or perhaps it's the small proportion of students who receive education from those renowned U. But I somehow had more regards towards these people. Well, that has to change.
