Hmm.. the sec 4 N(A) boy has asked "to quit my class" (to quote his message). I agree of course. Not that I don't like to teach him. He's actually quite smart. But what can I do? He said his parents had signed him up for courses at tuition centre. I hope that's the truth, not because he finds that I can't teach. I asked him to pay for the first lesson though :)

Monday, April 26, 2004NTU or NUS? I wonder how many people out there are facing the same problem (or question) right now.
For one, NTU letter sounds sincere while NUS one makes me feel that I'm less important than the 500 bucks non-refundable deposit. 1-0 for NTU.
But Chem Eng is a new course at NTU, starting only this year. Basically, the U has no experience, no established reputation, no nothing in this course. 1-1.
More over, NTU is further than NUS from where I stay. And NUS is far enough from my house thank you very much. Unless I have a direct bus in which I can sleep thoughout the journey, I'm not going to subject myself to hours of Singapore sightseeing everyday. So 2-1 for NUS.
What happened to Imperial?
Well, I've calculated the costs which sum up to S$250,000 for four years. That's the minimum and based on the current exchange rate for pound-sing dollar, excluding inflation.
My father has made it very clear from the beginning that he's only willing to send me to local U, which probably costs slightly more than S$50,000 for four years. That's one-fifth of S$250,000.
I've considered taking the money as a loan : My father pays what local U costs, then lends me the remaining which I'll pay back within the next 10 to 20 years? I don't know if it's going to be worthy, though. Imagine, a debt of S$200,000 - the cost of an HDB flat - even before I start working. Sigh. Don't think I can live easy with that.
And there's another problem. My father has just bought me a new table and a rack yesterday. And his words : So you can start this new phase of your life with a new table that accompanies you when you study. (or something like that). Argh. Where can I find the heart to tell him now. And how do I approach the subject. "Urm, Dad, actually I'm thinking of going overseas, but thanks for the table though"?
Oh. Talking about my new table.. I like it by the way :) . I haven't done packing yet!!! Spent the whole afternoon yesterday but I'm not even half-done. There're so many things, I don't even know what things, just so many things. I still have my secondary textbooks. And all my JC stuffs of course. I don't know if I should throw them. What if I need them as reference later?
I need to really sort things out. Put aside the not-important ones, throw the useless and the I'm-not-going-to-use-it-ever-again, keep the valuable ones, etc etc. Easier said than done. I tend to keep all my stuffs, thinking it's mine and it holds some memory, while I actually realise that I will never miss them after I threw them, maybe because I only throw very few things. Haha.
Anyway, how do you get rid of your old textbooks and magazines? I don't want them to end up in rubbish bins please.

Friday, April 16, 2004Ok, I change my mind now. The Nj dance night this coming Saturday might worth ten bucks after all. So anyone looking for some entertainment during the weekend, the show is just for you. It's fairly cheap and it's packed. 16 dances - 15 mins interval - a total of less than 2 hours. Although perhaps only a few dance items are worth your full attention, the others are not very bad either. At least you could appreaciate the amount of time the dancers put in for their looks - attire and make-up. Or you can look at the lightings during the not-so-good dances :)

Wednesday, April 14, 2004I have mixed feelings about the upcoming Nj Dance Night. From what I observed yesterday during the technical run, the show does not worth ten bucks at all. Hopefully things will be better tomorrow during the full-dress rehearsal.

Saturday, April 10, 2004I know I'm rarely punctual and always have people waiting for me. But, it's probably less than a 30-mins late? perhaps 15-mins average like that. I tried my best to be on time. I tried not to go back to sleep after my alarm has rang. But sometimes when you're sleepy you just do things kind of slowly. And I apologise to all the people whom I've made waiting. I'm sorry darlings.
So today I decided to be on time. I was told that my dance practice will be at 9. I set my alarm to ring at 715 even though I slept at 1230. I reached my bus stop at 817 but alas I missed my bus by 1 minute. Then, determined as I was to be on time, I took 4 buses altogether to get to Nj because I know 156 comes at 20-25 minutes interval. And I reached the school gym at 910 in the end.
But.. there were nobody. The next person came at 930, then another at 10. And the person who set the time at 9 (that stupid #%^&*@)? he came at 1030!! Who cares if he's taking cab to be early? He sets the time, so he should come at that time. And it's not as if he was having some important stuff at last minute. He bloody overslept while I hardly could open my eyes dragging my butt there and be on time.
How would you feel if you were me - listening to your friends saying how they slept till 9 plus? Here you're making the effort to come early and boom.. effort wasted. Thrice.
Bloody hell.

Friday, April 09, 2004I don't know why I always seem to be unable to match my outfits with my shoes. Most of my sandals now are in dark brown. Aren't dark brown supposed to match easily with denim colour? But even then there is a problem with the style, not just the colour. And if you're carrying a bag, you also have to make sure that the bag goes with your outfits and your shoes. Such a chore. This means that one must have a few pairs of shoes and bags.
I just bought a pair of pointing shoes (whatever the fashion designers call it) on Tuesday. It doesn't look so horrible actually, maybe because it is not too pointy. And it's a bit of a stiletto. I tried it on as soon as I got home. I'll have to dance in it on dance night next Saturday you see. So must practise from now on. Then I found out that the left side felt tighter than the right one. I genuinely thought it was my feet that were of different sizes, which is true. But many people say it's the right foot that is bigger, not the left. I was contemplating of changing to a bigger size. If the shoes is loose I can always stuff some tissue papers but if it's too tight there's nothing I can do.
Then, surprise surprise. I realised my shoes were of different sizes. I don't know how but the salesgirl gave me size 38 for the right and size 37 for the left. So I had to go all the way back to bugis where the shop is the very next day. Luckily the salesgirl (another one this time) was really nice about it (duh, they have to, but the shoes are sales items). She gave me brand new ones, size 38, for both sides, complete with the stuff-in papers and plastic covers. Which made me kind of guilty because I had jumped and stomped around in the previous shoes. Haha. Oh well, the journey costs me $2.46 and 1 hour 15 minutes. I deserved the best the shop can give I guess.

Sunday, April 04, 2004Watched Saturday Night Fever yesterday.I sat at the third row from the front. Whoa.. :P Can see the casts' facial expression. A very fascinating show. The storyline was very normal but it was more than compensated by the fabulous dancing and singing. Really admire them who can sing while dancing so energetically. It takes more than talent to do so. And all of the casts still smiling so beautifully and handsomely at the end of the show. Bravo!!

Friday, April 02, 2004I wonder when we are all free to do something like this again. School-life is not very fun. But it's definitely the best moment in our lives - the moment which holds the sweetest memories.

Thursday, April 01, 2004I can cycle!! Hohoho.. Not bad considering I tried cycling only once a year in the past 6 years, and I missed last year's turn. So only five times altogether. And I've mastered it. Yay.. Anyway, this game is cute. Try it.
